Characteristics and main uses

Pure nickel Ni 99.2 is characterized by very high resistance to oxidation and chemical corrosion.

Ni 99.2 is magnetic up to approx. +315 ° C. The maximum operating temperature in air is +660 ° C.

  • Commercially pure nickel
  • Resistance to various reducing chemicals and caustic alkalis
  • Good magnetostrictive properties
  • High electrical and thermal conductivity
  • Good ductility and low strain hardening rate
  • Good weldability and solderability

Main uses

  • Manufacture of foodstuffs such as the handling of refrigerating brine, fatty acids and fruit juices due to the material's resistance to acids.
  • Neutral alkaline and saline solutions and against organic acids
  • Tanks in which fluorine is produced and where it reacts with hydrocarbons (CFCs) due to the material's resistance to fluorine
  • Storage and transport of phenol
  • Production and processing of caustic soda
  • Production of synthetic fibers and soaps
  • Production of hydrogen chloride and chlorination of hydrocarbons such as benzene, methane and ethane
  • Production of vinyl chloride monomer due to the material's resistance to dry chlorine gas and hydrogen chloride at elevated temperatures
  • Electrical and electronic components
  • Electrode contacts and current conductors in batteries
  • Current conductors in alkaline fuels
